To develop a greater understanding of how early cultures manipulated their environment through their agricultural and other land-use practices, I have examined the way in which indigenous people, including the Jicaque, Paya and the Kekchi-Maya, use plants.Much of my work has focused on the archaeobotany of the ancient Maya and Olmec, studying the differences in dietary habits among groups of varying economic status.Values obtained by analysing human skeletons referenced against the range of environmental isotope variability enable researchers to trace back the location inhabited by the individual or group.Age calibrated deformation histories established by detailed mapping and dating of key magmatic time markers, are correlated across all tectono-metamorphic provinces in the Damara Orogenic System. Despite the recent development in radiometric dating of numerous zircons by LA-ICPMS, mineral separation still remains a major obstacle, particularly in the search for the oldest material on Earth....The static modeling and dynamic simulation are essential and critical processes in petroleum exploration and development.
